This pouch was built around a purpose-trimmed hatchet head — 12 oz of hardened steel, light enough to EDC or pack, serious enough to earn its place in a survival kit. No handle until you need one. Find a branch, whittle it to fit the eye, and drive a wedge. Or split the end and use the screw holes to pin it in place. Either way, you've got a functional hatchet from materials the woods provide.
